Recently, RIGGS was called to a home in Creve Coeur to repair the deck on the front of the home. The cedar deck, which was built in the 1980s, was beginning to rot extensively, creating a major safety hazard for the homeowner.

Upon evaluation, we also realized that the horizontal rails and the height of the deck were not up the code. In order for this deck to meet both county code and the RIGGS standard, it was going to have to be completely restored.

We replaced the structure of the deck with treated lumber with cedar veneer band boards and a cedar decking handrail system. We also included black round balusters to give the deck a more classic look and feel.

Because the entry from the driveway is angled down to the ground, we wanted the deck to look more like a bridge. As you can see, it fits perfectly within the aesthetics of the home
