There are so many great things both Kirkwood, Webster Groves and our surrounding communities have to offer. We’ll be showcasing some of these in our next few blog posts. This week, we’re focusing on the Downtown Kirkwood Farmers’ Market. Many Kirkwood residents know and love the Farmers’ Market, and the Riggs Family is no different! We like to routinely stroll through to get our favorite fresh picks for family dinners, snacks and even the flowers are beautiful. Today, we’re taking you along on our most recent family outing to the Downtown Kirkwood Farmers’ Market.

A Community Tradition

Since 1976, the Farmers’ Market has been a hub for fresh and local product. The City of Kirkwood started it as a bicentennial project and still owns the market today. Opening day this year was April 14th, and you’ll be able to enjoy up until September 29th. The hours are as follows: M-F 9am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-5pm, and Sundays Summit Produce is open 10am-5pm.

However, the fun does not stop on September 29th. Be sure to check out the Farmers’ Market’s transition to a Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Market in October. This is operated by Summit Produce, and is open daily from 9am-8pm. July 24, 2017: St. Louis, Mo. – RIGGS Company, a Kirkwood design-build remodeling firm established in 1959, is excited to announce the relocation of the business in the Kirkwood community. After 17 years in their current building, on North Clay Avenue, RIGGS will open the doors to their new space at 333 Leffingwell Avenue, Unit 109 in Kirkwood, MO by the first week in September.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to highlight innovation, enhance client service, and more efficiently use our work and display areas,” said Amie Riggs, Vice-President of RIGGS Company. “We’re currently in the process of building out the space in our new location, which we designed to focus on what our clients need and want from us today. While we loved our old building and its charm, that space did not give us the flexibility to expand, grow and show our full capabilities.”

The new RIGGS location at 333 Leffingwell Avenue is one block from downtown Kirkwood, directly next door to their warehouse, which made it an ideal location. The relocation is beneficial to both employees and clients, including better parking and a more streamlined and efficient office design. RIGGS will remain open during the move and will be operating business as usual.

A big part of business as usual for the RIGGS family includes giving back to the Kirkwood community, where they’ve lived and operated since the company’s founding in 1959.

“The new space positions us well to be able to continue serve our community’s needs, something we all feel very passionately about,” said Riggs. “We’ve maintained our presence in the heart of Kirkwood and have reduced our expenses in the process, allowing us the resources and ability to give back to the community. Kirkwood is our home, and the entire team is excited for the opportunity to make this move.”

Let us introduce you to the Downtown Kirkwood Special Business District. This group  works to promote and enhance business in the downtown area in Kirkwood. The downtown retains the charm and character of the past (the Kirkwood Train Station has been running since 1853), while combining an abundance of shopping, entertainment and dining with a beautiful outdoor ambiance. Downtown Kirkwood is home to more than 100 specialty shops and restaurants. If you haven’t visited Kirkwood, be sure to make a trip this weekend! You might not want to leave.

15 years ago, Amie became a member of the Kirkwood Special Business District Advisory to help give back and support other businesses in the community. Obviously she enjoyed it so much that she never left the board! The Kirkwood SBD recently awarded Amie with the Longest Time Served on the Advisory Commission.

“I feel blessed to be a part of this group, a group of wonderful people who give back to our community,” said Amie Riggs. “I don’t know how it’s possible that I’ve served the longest when I just graduated high school a few years ago…”
