As the summer sun begins to set, it is time we look ahead for what is sure to be a festive fall. From Friday night lights at Lyons Stadium to Saturday morning strolls through the Kirkwood Farmers Market-the fall season is always merry here in Kirkwood.

Speaking of merry, the holiday season is just around the corner. Whether it’s grandma & grandpa’s house or your own-the focus is always on getting the space ready to welcome guests. If you are beginning to wonder how you are going to get everything fixed up in time… never fear, RIGGS is here! There are several simple but effective things that you can do to give your home a fresh new look. These include:

Replacing kitchen hardware

Adding a splash of color to a white space

Replacing faucets in both the kitchen and bathroom

If you need help implementing any of these tips, we are just a phone call away!

As always, we thank you for your continued support!

What’s New!

Subway tile, a once standard feature in both kitchens and bathrooms, is making a major comeback in 2013. Known for its classic elegance, subway title can integrate seamlessly into virtually any kitchen or bathroom, making it a perfect choice for your next remodeling project. While the “look” is admired by many, its upkeep isn’t revered by everyone.

One of our great vendors, Swanstone, has developed a faux subway tile, which is available in 36″ x 96″ panels. This low maintenance alternative is a great option for homeowners who dislike the flat look of standard panels, but don’t want to deal with grouting and cleaning tile.

When we say “low maintenance”-we aren’t kidding! Aside from ZERO grouting, sealing and caulking, it is also resistant to stains, preserving the new look of your space for years to come!

If you would like to learn more about this innovative product, please feel free to give us a call today!

Feature Project!

As we’ve mentioned in the past, functionally has always been a keystone to RIGGS’ approach to remodeling. Recently, we finished a mudroom for a Kirkwood homeowner. Because the driveway is on the side of the house, visitors would always have to enter through the garage. To rectify this issue, we created a side entrance to the home. The new entry also has a mudroom equipped with built-in beach seats and coat racks. As you can see, the new entrance blends perfectly with the home, creating a more welcoming experience for visitors and passersby. Check out our photo gallery for a complete look at this convenient new entrance.

Additionally, this marks our 6th completed project for this homeowner. Over the last 50 years, RIGGS has developed a very loyal client base, completing multiple projects for several families, further establishing RIGGS as St. Louis’ most trusted home remodeler.

The summer season is off and running at RIGGS Company. From screened-in porches to complete kitchen makeovers-our team has worked up a sweat! While our projects range in size, there does seem to be one common theme: people want to know what is hot! Last month, I was a featured guest on Great Day St. Louis with Virginia Kerr. The segment highlighted a variety of home remodeling trends and features including countertops, cabinet hardware and faucets.

The experience was very rewarding! If you didn’t get a chance to catch it, CLICK HERE to view the segment in its entirety.

What’s New!

Let’s be honest here: who doesn’t sing in the shower? One of our favorite vendors, KOHLER, is transforming the bathroom-karaoke experience with their latest and greatest showerhead, the Moxie. This one-of-a-kind showerhead comes with a built-in wireless speaker and Bluetooth, allowing you to stream all of your favorite tunes from your Smartphone device.

In addition to its smart technology, the spraying performance is truly second to none. The showerhead features 60 angled nozzles, delivering a high-performance shower experience every time. Also, the 2.0 gpm or 2.5 gpm spray allows you to save water while still receiving a full spray.

Installing the Moxie is a breeze too. Just unscrew your current showerhead and pop on the Moxie. It’s truly that easy!

If you would like to include the Moxie in your next bathroom remodeling project, please feel free to drop us a line. We are all ears!

Recently, we concluded a complete kitchen remodel for a home in Webster Groves. The homeowner, an avid baker, was looking to gain space while improving functionality.

We began by fixing the layout of the kitchen. This helped to open up the space, creating a more cooking friendly environment. Additionally, we updated all of the appliances and features including cabinets, sink, faucet and countertops.

Speaking of the countertops, the homeowner chose to make one countertop her favorite color: apple green. As you can see, it fits nicely within the newly remodeled kitchen.

Check out the photo gallery for a complete look at this quaint kitchen.

What’s New!

As some of these new trends continue to gain traction, it is important that we, the design firm, keep the community in the know. So, what is “hot” right now, you ask? Let us explain…

As we have mentioned in the past, homeowners are continuing to invest more money into their kitchens. Over the past few months, we have installed quite a few farmhouse sinks. These sinks, which exude Americana, come in a variety of styles including modern, rustic and retro. Also, because their basins are both wide and deep, washing larger items, such as pots and pans is a much less trying task.

In addition to farmhouse sinks, homeowners are opting to install both USB wall outlets and smart thermostats. Have you ever missed an important call while you were in bed because your phone was charging in the other room? Adding USB wall outlets to your home will give you the freedom to charge your phone, laptop and/or tablet from any room in the house. As for the smart thermostats, these devices have the ability to turn down when you are out of the house or asleep. A properly programmed smart thermostat can reduce energy costs by more than 20 percent.

Feature Project!

What happens when a remodeler remodels her own home? She gets to find ways to incorporate all the latest and greatest products and design features! Amie Riggs Swarts recently installed Kohler’s new Indio® smart divide sink in her kitchen. Amie SinkAmie is in love with the classic look of her kitchen. It affords her both comfort and convenience while preparing delicious meals for her family. One of the major cons of a normal divided sink is that sometimes washing large pots and pans can be challenging. The great thing about the Indio® smart divide sink is that it has a large bowl for your pots and pans and a medium bowl for your everyday dishes. Aside from the flexible design, the Indio® also comes with: two bottom basin racks, walnut cutting board, and colander. Check out our online photo gallery for a quick look at some of our more recent kitchen projects.
