May 2013 Newsletter

Amie_Headshot2013 is gearing up to be an active year for us at RIGGS Company. From basic kitchen upgrades to complete home renovations-our crew has been quite busy! As we get ready for the summer season, we would like to encourage everyone to start thinking about ways to spruce up your own home. A fresh facelift, whether it be adding a splash of color to your front door or tidying up your screened-in porch, is a great way to inject new life into your aging home. While we love seeing people doing their best Bob Vila impression, please remember: we are always just a phone call away.

We thank you for your continued support, and wish you all a very happy summer!

What’s New!

Whats new image 1Whats new image 2When one decides to venture into a home remodeling project, it is important that you select features that are not only chic, but truly add value to your home. As some of these new trends continue to gain traction, it is important that we, the design firm, keep the community in the know. So, what is “hot” right now, you ask? Let us explain…

As we have mentioned in the past, homeowners are continuing to invest more money into their kitchens. Over the past few months, we have installed quite a few farmhouse sinks. These sinks, which exude Americana, come in a variety of styles including modern, rustic and retro. Also, because their basins are both wide and deep, washing larger items, such as pots and pans is a much less trying task.

In addition to farmhouse sinks, homeowners are opting to install both USB wall outlets and smart thermostats. Have you ever missed an important call while you were in bed because your phone was charging in the other room? Adding USB wall outlets to your home will give you the freedom to charge your phone, laptop and/or tablet from any room in the house. As for the smart thermostats, these devices have the ability to turn down when you are out of the house or asleep. A properly programmed smart thermostat can reduce energy costs by more than 20 percent.

Feature Project!

DetailsThumbWhat happens when a remodeler remodels her own home? She gets to find ways to incorporate all the latest and greatest products and design features! Amie Riggs Swarts recently installed Kohler’s new Indio® smart divide sink in her kitchen. Amie SinkAmie is in love with the classic look of her kitchen. It affords her both comfort and convenience while preparing delicious meals for her family. One of the major cons of a normal divided sink is that sometimes washing large pots and pans can be challenging. The great thing about the Indio® smart divide sink is that it has a large bowl for your pots and pans and a medium bowl for your everyday dishes. Aside from the flexible design, the Indio® also comes with: two bottom basin racks, walnut cutting board, and colander.
