Is there something about your home that you have always disliked, but fear it is—for lack of a better word—unfixable? For some, it might be the location of the laundry room—while others may hate their double garage doors. At RIGGS Company & Design, we are committed to helping homeowners create spaces that fully meet all of their wants and needs.

Recently, we finished a mudroom and porch for a Kirkwood homeowner. Because the driveway is on the side of the house, visitors would always have to enter through the garage. This would require the family to leave their garage door open when they were home.

To rectify this issue, we created a side entrance to the home. The new entry comes equipped with a front porch and a mudroom with built-in beach seats and coat hooks.

As you can see below, the new entry blends perfectly with the aesthetics of the home. This will not only result in a more welcoming experience for visitors, but it should also help make the home more energy efficient.

Additionally, this marks our 6th completed project for this homeowner. Over the last 54 years, RIGGS has developed a very loyal client base, completing multiple projects for several families, further establishing RIGGS as St. Louis’ most trusted home remodeler.

The world of home design and remodeling is constantly evolving and changing. From the shag carpet craze to the vinyl window movement in the mid-90s—new design trends are always popping up. And sometimes these trends are a blast from the past.

Subway tile, a once standard feature in both kitchens and bathrooms, is making a major comeback in 2013. Known for its classic elegance, subway title can integrate seamlessly into virtually any kitchen or bathroom, making it a perfect choice for your next remodeling project. While the “look” is admired by many, its upkeep isn’t revered by everyone.

One of our great vendors, Swanstone, has developed a faux subway tile, which is available in 36″ x 96″ panels. This low maintenance alternative is a great option for homeowners who dislike the flat look of standard panels, but don’t want to deal with grouting and cleaning tile.

When we say “low maintenance”—we aren’t kidding! Aside from ZERO grouting, sealing and caulking, it is also resistant to stains, preserving the new look of your space for years to come.

The tile can be used in a variety of ways too. While it is most commonly utilized in showers and bath tubs it also makes for a great backsplash.

If you are interested in adding subway tile to your kitchen or bathroom, RIGGS can help! We offer superior design, planning and remodeling solutions that are truly second to none. Drop us a line or visit us online 24/7 at www.riggscompanystl.com.

Over the last few years, we have seen a wide array of changes within the world of remodeling and design. In 2013, many of the design trends are pointing to smaller, more attainable home remodeling projects. Currently, we’re working with homeowners on projects designed to maximize the use of their existing space, allowing them to remain in the home they have grown to love.

Recently, we concluded a complete kitchen remodel for a home in Webster Groves, Missouri. The homeowner, an avid baker, was looking to gain space while improving functionality. Upon surveying the kitchen, we knew that we would have to fully alter the layout. By changing the layout, we are able to create more space without having to expand into a neighboring room.

As you can see, this helped to open up the area, creating a more cooking friendly environment.

Furthermore, we updated all of the appliances and features in the kitchen. This includes: cabinets, sink, faucet and countertops. Speaking of the countertops, the homeowner chose to make one countertop her favorite color: apple green.

The color not only gives the space a unique look, but allows for the homeowner to express her own personal style.

Over the last 54 years, we have been committed to supplying the St. Louis community with not only top-notch design solutions, but a level of customer service that is truly second to none. In return, we have been able to cultivate relationships with clients that have spanned decades, further establishing RIGGS as one of the finest home remodelers in the Gateway city.

Since 1996, RIGGS has worked with this Clayton homeowner to transform their brick bungalow into the envy of the neighborhood. From bathroom remodeling to the creation of a main floor master suite—we’ve completed a total of nineteen projects for the family, helping them to create a space that fits both their current and future needs.

One of our favorite projects we finished for the family was a complete exterior makeover, developed as part of a long-term renovation plan we devised so many years ago. A new façade and cozy front porch were built with a flagstone walkway leading to the new entrance.

The very first project we completed for the family was a total kitchen remodel. Earlier this year, we returned to help give it a fresh new look. We replaced the cabinet hardware, sink, faucet, garbage disposer, countertops and backsplash, and cook top. In addition, we also replaced the under cabinet lights from old-school fluorescent to energy efficient halogen lights.

As leaders in the St. Louis home remodeling arena, we field questions regularly from clients, potential clients and people who are just interested in the world of remodeling. One of the most common questions people pose is: “what is the ‘hottest’ fixture/appliance on the market today?” Over the past few months, many of our kitchen remodels have included the addition of specialty divide sinks. Our personal favorite divide sink would have to be the Indio® by Kohler.

So what makes the Indio® our favorite, you ask?

#1 Flexibility: One of the major cons of a normal divided sink is that sometimes washing large pots and pans can be challenging. The great thing about the Indio® smart divide sink is that it has a large bowl for your bigger items and a medium bowl for your everyday dishes. Truly the best of both worlds!

#2 Color Choices: In the past, cast iron sinks were only available in neutral colors. The Indio® is available in everything from black to vibrant reds and blues. This sink will not only make kitchen life easier, but will add a nice punch of color to the room.

#3 Cast Iron or Stainless: If you thought the Indio® only came in cast iron, think again! If you are a lover of all things stainless steel—don’t worry. The smart divide sink comes in stainless steel, too. Its versatility and good looks make it a perfect solution for virtually any household.

#4 Added Bonus: Wait—there is more! Aside from the flexible design, color choices and style, the Indio® also comes with: two bottom basin racks, walnut cutting board, and colander. Pretty cool, huh?
