RIGGS Company Announces Relocation

July 24, 2017: St. Louis, Mo. – RIGGS Company, a Kirkwood design-build remodeling firm established in 1959, is excited to announce the relocation of the business in the Kirkwood community. After 17 years in their current building, on North Clay Avenue, RIGGS will open the doors to their new space at 333 Leffingwell Avenue, Unit 109 in Kirkwood, MO by the first week in September.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to highlight innovation, enhance client service, and more efficiently use our work and display areas,” said Amie Riggs, Vice-President of RIGGS Company. “We’re currently in the process of building out the space in our new location, which we designed to focus on what our clients need and want from us today. While we loved our old building and its charm, that space did not give us the flexibility to expand, grow and show our full capabilities.”

The new RIGGS location at 333 Leffingwell Avenue is one block from downtown Kirkwood, directly next door to their warehouse, which made it an ideal location. The relocation is beneficial to both employees and clients, including better parking and a more streamlined and efficient office design. RIGGS will remain open during the move and will be operating business as usual.

A big part of business as usual for the RIGGS family includes giving back to the Kirkwood community, where they’ve lived and operated since the company’s founding in 1959.

“The new space positions us well to be able to continue serve our community’s needs, something we all feel very passionately about,” said Riggs. “We’ve maintained our presence in the heart of Kirkwood and have reduced our expenses in the process, allowing us the resources and ability to give back to the community. Kirkwood is our home, and the entire team is excited for the opportunity to make this move.”

About RIGGS Company

After months of meetings, plans, construction and excitement, the Kirkwood Public Library Children’s Room is now open! Sometimes we have those projects that just invigorate us and get us pumped, and this is one of them. Throughout the remodel, we were antsy with anticipation, and knew this was going to be one of the coolest projects we have ever worked on, and we were right. It’s AWESOME!

The Grand Opening was April 8th and there was a massive turnout from the community, to which we are eternally grateful! The support we saw from the Kirkwood community was incredible. And now, Kirkwood has one of the best Children’s Rooms in the country. You can check out our album of photos from the Grand Opening HERE.

This space features a replica of the Kirkwood Train Station, along with a large, colorful train where kids can sit and read. But that’s not all, technology was key in making this children’s room so unique, with an interactive floor projector, a 3D printer and a smart table. The best part of the technology in the library is how it’s interactive to encourage collaboration and teamwork. Show Me St. Louis thought that the library was pretty awesome as well, so they came out for a tour of the space and might have discovered the coolest place to spend time with the kiddos. Here’s the Show Me St. Louis segment where you can see the high tech features of the children’s room in all of its glory.

We want to send a big thank you out to the Kirkwood Public Library for trusting us with this remodel. It has been an honor and a privilege to make your dream a reality and create an interactive space for learning, fun and collaboration. Another big thank you to our RIGGS team who worked so hard to execute and complete this one-of-a-kind project. You’ve gone above and beyond, and we cannot thank you enough!

If you haven’t stopped by the Kirkwood Public Library yet to check out the new space, what are you waiting for? Stop by today and let us know what’s your favorite feature.

In 1959, Bill and Helen Riggs set out to create a construction company that would provide the best carpentry and the finest craftsmen in St. Louis. That dream became a reality with RIGGS Company. Bill and Helen’s son, Tom, and their daughter Pam grew up in the business, and in 1981 they took over the company. Today, Tom’s children Amie and Bill Riggs are the third generation of the family to lead the business after purchasing the company in 2011.

They remain committed to living out their grandfather’s vision and embrace the values he held dear and allowed him to establish a reputation for uncompromising excellence.

Amie and Bill Riggs have a combined 39 years of service at RIGGS Company. They’ve spent a majority of their lives in some capacity working for RIGGS, and as a family business, they hope to pass along the love for the business to their children.

But it’s not just Amie and Bill who have been running their Dad and Grandpa’s business, many of the employees have been with the company for years. RIGGS Company has employees who have become family, working for Tom and Bill. Brian Marquis has worked for RIGGS for over 26 years, and his father worked for RIGGS even before him. Just more family ties! Stay tuned for a future video we are shooting with Brian and his dad talking about their experience working for a family owned business, as a family.

Brett Randoll has been a part of the RIGGS Company family for 23 years. If you’ve ever worked with RIGGS, you certainly know Brett and understand why he is such a valuable part of the RIGGS team. With Brett and Brian, as well as the other RIGGS employees, they truly embrace the RIGGS values and treat every client like family.

“I have had the great privilege to work on so many different types of home remodeling and commercial construction projects over the years with RIGGS, and I have learned so much during that time,” said Brett. “At RIGGS, I have always felt like I was part of the team from the beginning, something I never experienced at larger construction companies in the St. Louis area. RIGGS gave me the opportunity to grow in this company from the day I started as a third term apprentice to now as the Vice President of Production.”

As a family owned business, it’s important to provide our clients with a customer service experience unmatched by any of our competitors. Not only are our employees family, but our clients are as well. We make a connection on a deeper level and value the relationships we are able to build with our clients and customers. Every day we look forward to going to work and spending time with our work family.

You’ve made the decision it was time to remodel your home. Congratulations! The excitement is setting in, and I can image you are overwhelmed with thoughts, feelings and not knowing what to do next or where to start. We are here to help you begin the process of reimaging your home. We pulled together a guide to help you start the process, to ease the fear of the unknown and help you along the path to creating your dream home.

Step One: Put together a budget
I know this doesn’t seem glamorous, fun or exciting, but before you start pulling together a Pinterest board of unrealistic, outrageous remodel projects, pin point what you can afford. This will help give you an idea of what you can manage and will make the overall process much easier. You don’t want to fall in love with something that you can’t afford, that can be heartbreaking!

Step Two: NOW you can create that Pinterest board
Your budget is set, and you know what you can afford. Now you can begin planning your perfect project! Pull together inspirational floor plans, pictures, colors or furniture that gets you excited and inspired. Having these inspirational boards helps you feel motivated, and not like you’re starting with a blank slate.

Step Three: Compile your Dream Team
You don’t have to tackle this remodel on your own. Take the time to interview and hire a remodeling professional who is willing to stay within your budget, help you mold and imagine your dream home and execute in a timely and professional manner.

Step Four: Set a timeline
It’s almost impossible to exactly pinpoint how long a project will take. There will always be something that pops up or a product that doesn’t come in on time, but having an overall plan and suggested timeline will keep everyone on task, organized and prepared. This is another step that might not seem thrilling, but you will thank us in the end. If you don’t have a plan, or if you stray too far from it, then you might end up paying for it.

Step Five: Stay positive and look towards the light at the end of the tunnel
That sounds cheesy, but remodeling can be stressful and sometimes it might seem like the project will never come to an end. But picture yourself in your beautiful, perfectly designed home, happily hosting a party or making dinner in your state of the art kitchen with your family, and you’ll know that it was all worth it. And if you’re still stressed out, be sure to check out our blog on preventing stress during your remodel.

You’re not alone in this remodel process. Our design-build remodeling experts would love to sit down with you and help you create the home you’ve always wanted, and help ease some of the remodeling fear. Contact us today, we look forward to hearing from you!

As premier St. Louis home remodelers, we believe it is our duty to educate the homeowner on what is “hot” in the world of remodeling and design. One of our favorite current bathroom features has to be the Moxie showerhead by KOHLER. This showerhead comes with a built-in wireless speaker and Bluetooth technology, allowing you to play your favorite tunes while in the shower.

Aside from its innovative technology, what exactly makes this showerhead so special? Let us explain…

#1 Simplicity – In this particular case, innovative does not mean complex. The Moxie can be easily installed in virtually any shower or tub. Just unscrew your current showerhead and pop on the Moxie. It’s truly that easy!

#2 Pick Your Color – The Moxie really embraces individuality. Not only can each one of your family members select their own shower playlist, but they can also choose the color of their speaker. Speaker colors include: Navy Blue, Chartreuse, Retro Blue, Cherry Red, and Original White.

#3 Performance – Oh, did we mention the superior spraying performance? The showerhead features 60 angled nozzles, delivering a high-performance shower experience every time. In addition, the 2.0 gpm or 2.5 gpm spray allows you to save water while still receiving a full spray.

This summer you have had months of enjoyment, barbequing and entertaining in your backyard. You have laughed and soaked up the sun, but now that Fall is here and cooler weather has arrived, it is a great time to imagine what your outdoor space can become.

While not part of your home’s square footage, outdoor space is truly an extra room in your home. It is just as customizable, if not more, and renovations can vary in involvement and cost. After using your backyard for an entire season, your needs and also wants are still fresh in your mind.

Beside from your choice in ground cover (grass, rock, mulch), the patio is one of the most important components. This area will draw the most attention and presumably, will be the area you spend the most time on. Stone, brick and wood patio arrangements are among the most popular with our customers, who are often amazed by how much a new patio and walkway was able to transform the entire space.

Other popular renovations are outdoor kitchens and covered areas. With an outdoor kitchen you can entertain outside, while still cooking the hot dogs! Outdoor kitchens include refrigerators, sinks, stoves and barbeques. And covered areas are becoming increasing popular for outdoor kitchens, allowing homeowners to enjoy the outdoors rain or shine.

Even though the outdoor season is coming to an end, there are options to extend your season. Projects like outdoor fire pits and heaters can heat up those cold Fall nights. Fire pits come in all shapes and sizes to fit your space. We can also build wood, charcoal and gas burning fire pits.

If you are interested in an outdoor renovation, give us a call at RIGGS. We can give you an estimate and bring your backyard dream to reality.

A room’s theme tells a story about you and your style. Maybe you are casual, traditional or even nautical. No matter the theme, your wall color should complement your theme choice and layout of the room.

Before decorating even begins, we ask homeowners, what activity will be happening in the room? For example, if they are remodeling a bedroom, does bright red make sense for a room meant for relaxation? It is these types of simple questions that will give you a strong theme, and color palette.

After weighing your style and room activity, it is time to choose your theme. Usually homeowners already know what theme they like, based on preference and furniture, but it is still a good idea to evaluate your decision and make any necessary changes.

If you are looking to set a casual theme, warm muted colors and earth tones work best. These colors can include browns, oranges, greens, golds and soft reds. Causal rooms often have a “comfortable” setting, so warmth, without being too hot is a general rule in wall color.

For those of you of you with modern tastes, you need a room which shows off your bold sense. Colors like black, white, red, blue and green will make you room pop. Boring is not in your vocabulary and your walls shouldn’t be any different. Or, you may choose crisp white to allow bold, modern accents to stand out.

To set off a rustic look, use colors that are close to nature, like dark yellows, browns, greens and reds. You love the outdoors and your theme should tastefully bring the outdoors, indoors.

And finally, a traditional room can use light colors, like muted greens, light blues and soft reds. A traditional theme is usually proper and classic, yet has a touch of refined comfort. Traditional themed rooms should brighten up your day with light colors.

So as you are planning your next remodel, think about the walls and what that might mean for your theme. If you have any questions about themes or a remodel, give us a call at RIGGS. We can make sure your room tells your story.
